Meet the CCN Team
The Contamination Control Network Society is run by a team of dedicated professionals with extensive expertise in contamination control.
Gordon Farquharson, CCN President
Gordon Farquharson B.Sc., C.Eng.
Gordon Farquharson, is a Chartered Consulting Engineer with more than 40 years’ experience of quality & safety critical processes and facilities used by industries such as Healthcare, Life Science, Micro-electronics, etc. He is Principal consultant and Managing Director of Critical Systems Ltd, with a strong network in SE Asia, the ASEAN region and Australasia.
After graduating in Environmental Engineering, he worked in general building services before a 1970s project in a pharma research facility sparked an interest in the Life Sciences sector. The rest is history….. A move to be chief engineer at a specialist consultancy and engineering business Pharmaceutical Engineering & Design” was the foundation to a life-long career described by Gordon as “using knowledge, expertise and technology to convert GMP’s high level objectives into an effective reality”. The start with PED evolved into a group of companies under the Tanshire Holdings PLC banner. The business was sold to its management in 2008/9 and Gordon focused on his consultancy business Critical Systems Ltd.
Starting in the mid 70s, standards and regulatory compliance issues in the Pharma/Life Science sectors became a major interest and responsibility within the business. This has and continues to ensure that he has a high degree of expertise in the practical interpretation & application of GMPs (EU, PIC-S, and US FDA). He has been heavily involved in the development of the new regulatory guidance and standards. In particular, he is active working on CEN/ISO Cleanroom & Contamination Control Standards, WHO GMP guidance and ISPE Baseline Guides.
In recent years he has focused on technologies such as isolators, barrier technology, mini-environments, critical utility systems and bio-containment applications.
Over the years Gordon has taken a keen interest in supporting industry through important professional and standards organisations. He is immediate past Chair of BSI’s LBI 30 Committee and current Chair of CEN Technical Committee 243, and is a UK expert working on the ISO TC209 and CEN TC243 family of contamination control standards. He has provided technical guidance and input into the cleanroom classification and monitoring requirements in the 2008 & 2022 version of Annex 1 of the EU and PIC/S GMPs and has contributed writing WHO’s Pharmaceutical water GMP Guidance.
He is a founding member and President of the Contamination Control Network (CCN) , founding member, past Chairman, and Honorary Member of the UK Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Sciences Society (PHSS) (formerly Parenteral Society). He is an active ISPE member since the 1980s, is past chair of the ISPE European Education Committee, ISPE 2001 International Member of the year, UK Affiliate 2008 Member of the year, and recipient of the Richard B Purdy Distinguished Achievement Award in 2009. He has been a member of the PDA Science Advisory Board (SAB). In the academic world, he is an honorary senior lecturer at UCL (London) and the University of Manchester PEAT, PIAT & PMAT programmes.
For fun and sanity, Gordon supports several voluntary organisations including Brooklands Museum in Weybridge where he is a Steward and part of the Motoring Team maintaining exhibits like the 1930 Cuthbert Riley 9 that raced on the banked Brooklands track in period. His own 1933 Riley Lynx, here outside the Brooklands Clubhouse celebrates its 90th Birthday.
Chris Morgan, CCN Chair
Chris has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over twenty five years and his experience covers the design, commissioning, qualification and operation of facilities for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals including traditional small molecules, highly potent materials and ATMPs.
Chris has worked within cleanrooms during manufacturing operations and has considerable experience investigating events (be they one off or part of a trend) and identifying appropriate remediation. This practical experience coupled with a knowledge of the principles of operation and the fact that modern cleanrooms can be dynamic environments help him to assist in the generation of contamination control strategies that include the facility and process design elements providing an holistic view to contamination control.
Chris is an active member of the Contamination Control Network and is passionate about sharing best practices to enhance operational efficiencies to save energy and to reduce contamination hazards to minimise patient risk.
Tim Triggs
Tim has worked in contamination control for more than 30 years and is a Consultant for Air Techniques International (ATI), providing training, consulting, and business expertise for HEPA filter testing and other cleanroom and containment testing solutions. Tim’s recent career has been spent leading ATI operations in the UK and business for the EMEA region since 2016, after ATI’s acquisition of DOP Solutions, where Tim was co-owner and Business Development Director since 2007.
Prior to this, he spent 14 years with GlaxoSmithKline, based in the UK. During this period, he gained experience in operational functions of QA/QC, engineering, production, and business process (lean sigma). His career with GSK started back in the early 1990s, and with the many positions held, he has developed a strong operational and supply chain understanding, particularly in areas of GMP compliance for global supply and new products, where he has engaged in many FDA and MHRA audits in all of the above disciplines.
He has qualifications in Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences and is a member of the UK British Standards Committee LBI/30, writing the ISO14644 cleanroom and controlled environments standards. He is Chair of the Contamination Control Network (CCN) and the Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board – International (CTCB-I) and a lead Trainer for both societies, and a Subject Matter Expert on cleanrooms and testing for the Pharmaceutical Healthcare and Sciences Society (PHSS).
Tim trains in airflow testing, HEPA filter testing, cleanroom classification, and biosafety cabinet testing, and whilst lives in the UK and Spain, presents in many events outside of Europe in Asia, the USA, and Africa.
Tim was the CCN Chair for over 6 years, stepping down in December 2025. During his tenure he delivered annual CTCB-I courses and helped grow the network to almost 1,000 members worldwide.
Toni Horsfield
Toni is the Managing Director and founder of ISO Cleanroom, where she designs cleanrooms for clients within the pharmaceutical, life science, advanced engineering, and electronic sectors. Toni has worked in commercial design since graduating in 1999 but began specializing in the field of cleanroom design over the past 13 years. In 2013, she took over the Clean Tent product line for Moorfield Nanotechnology with the brief to grow the division for sale over a 5-year period. She created the Clean Environment brand, and in December 2019, Moorfield Nanotechnology and Clean Environments were sold to Judges Scientific.
Toni has developed a reputation for her bespoke approach to cleanroom design, having undertaken some of the more obscure and demanding design briefs. These include designing a cleanroom on a subterranean train, a cleanroom for an artist to develop a sculpture for the moon, and a cleanroom that could be craned through a production cleanroom into position.
Kevin Beauchamp
Kevin has worked in the industry and been involved with the validation of safety cabinets, cleanroom, and containment facilities for over 40 years, starting in 1983 by joining Pharmaceutical Engineering and Design Ltd (Tanshire Group in Godalming) as Operations manager of the Environmental validation department. This involved working throughout the world; Scandinavia, Spain, Canada etc. undertaking validation project management and the practical validation tests of both large Porton Down projects and small projects for hospital pharmacy, including the production of protocols and reports for clients’ License applications.
In 1994 Kevin joined Crowthorne Hi-Tec Services Ltd in Farnborough as General Manager with a service team of 18 engineers and in 2004 became co-owner as part of the management buy-out team.
Kevin is a committee member of CCN (Membership secretary & Director) and a representative on LBI/30 a BSI Cleanroom committee & WG 8 also LBI1/1 a BSI safety cabinet and Fume cupboard standards committee & WG7. He is also a member and sits on the CTCB-I (Cleanroom Training Certification Board – International) committee as a trainer and examiner. Kevin is now involved with many large new build projects throughout the world for both Pharmaceutical and micro-electronics facilities.
